Coleman, Monahans and El Paso, Texas (Jan 14-18)

Sorry for the delay!  We left the DFW area on Friday the 14th and headed to Coleman, Texas. We stayed a Hords Creek Lake Park. It is a very nice campground. The lake was low, but we didn’t mind. There were deer everywhere!  We enjoyed the 2 night stay, drove to Abilene and just poked around.  Ed even went hunting letterboxes with me!

We then moved to Monahans State Park on the 16th.  I had gone as a child with Mama and the boys and wanted to go back to see what it is like.  It is pretty cool!  I learned that when you are overweight and over-45, the sand surfing is just not the same. 😆

Scooby immediately hated the sand.  He would not go out of the camper without being picked up and placed in the sand. It was hysterical.

We went to Odessa to check out a replica of Stonehenge that is on the UT campus.  It was pretty cool.  The Geology department created it.

We then went to Midland and went to a cool popcorn shop that had a bunch of different flavors! We got a few small bags and it was fun!  We also checked out a petroleum museum and found another letterbox.

This sign was at a Pilot station and I had to get a photo of Ed with it, as this could be his life motto!  🥰

We are now in El Paso, just for the night (18th). Then we will head to Tucson, where we plan to stay a week.

Yay I made to your site. Love the pics. Love hearing your adventure. What exactly is a letter box?

Letterboxes are hidden boxes that you get clues to hunt online. They contain a hand carved stamp that you stamp in your own logbook. In turn, there is a logbook in the box that you ‘sign’ with your own personal stamp. A good link to learn more is atlas quest.com
